PONTOTOC COUNTY -- An Ada man is dead following a collision Friday night.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers report 25-year-old Joseph Thomas Tiger was killed in the crash shortly after 7:00 p.m. on Country Road 1570, 1.8 miles south and 3.3 miles west of Ada.

Troopers said Tiger was the passenger in a 2001 Mercury, driven by 48-year-old Dale Ray Freeman of Burkburnett, TX. According to an OHP report, the vehicle was traveling eastbound on CR 1570, ran off the right side of the road, struck a bridge, rotated about 270 degrees and struck a freightliner, which was westbound on CR 1570.

The freightliner was driven by 32-year-old Larry C. Hull of Pineville, LA.

Tiger was pinned for about two hours before being freed by the Ada Fire Department. Troopers reported he died at the scene due to massive injuries sustained in the collision.

Freeman was transported by Medi-Flight to OU Medical Center. He was admitted in critical condition with head and trunk internal injuries.

Hull was not injured.

Tiger and Freeman were not wearing seatbelts, according to the report. Hull was wearing a seatbelt.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
