SEMINOLE, Oklahoma – OSBI investigators are trying to determine how a 21-year-old Seminole woman found in a creek died.

Donnell Carter, 21, was found at about 10:45 a.m. Thursday.

Her mother, Samantha Harjo said her daughter had been missing since Monday. In fact, Harjo said her family had just finished reporting Donnell Carter missing to Seminole police when they were walking along the creek bed and noticed her legs sticking out of the water.

"It was tough. Every time I close my eyes I just see her legs sticking out of the water, I just see her legs," Harjo said.

OSBI is investigating the death as suspicious, but has not yet ruled it a homicide until an autopsy is completed.

"It was not like Donnell to go missing like this, I knew something was wrong," Harjo said. "The last time we talked she told me she loved me."

Donnell Carter's mother isn't sure just what happened to her daughter, but her father is convinced someone had something to do with it.

"Something happened because she never was alone, never alone...That's the way I see I'm looking at it," said Tuan Carter.

"Nobody had seen or heard from her, which was unusual because she always talked, called someone letting someone know something," Harjo said.

Harjo said there were a few people who Donnell was having problems with recently.

The Seminole police chief said the last homicide they had was on New Year's Eve two years ago.
