TULSA, OK -- Tulsa Police have arrested a Tulsa man on a complaint of lying to officers about the abduction of his daughter.

At 10:27 p.m. Wednesday police officers were sent to the 800 block of East 46th Street North after 40-year-old Michael Hankins called to say his pickup truck had been stolen with his 6-year-old daughter inside.

About half the police officers on patrol in north Tulsa responded to search for the pickup truck and the abducted girl.

Hankins later admitted to police he had lied about the fact his daughter was inside the pickup truck.

He said he wanted to get a faster police response in hopes officers would find his truck faster.

Hankins was arrested and booked into the Tulsa County jail on a complaint of falsely causing activation of an Amber Alert.

Police say no Amber Alert was issued.
