Man Crashes Vehicle During Chase With Tulsa Police

The Tulsa Police Department used its newly reinstated chopper to track a suspect running from officers.

CATOOSA, OK -- The Tulsa Police Department used its newly reinstated chopper to track a suspect running from officers Saturday evening.

Police say someone noticed the car driving recklessly at about 7:30 p.m. at 21st and Harvard.

The person followed the car until police caught up with the vehicle. When police reached it, they say the driver sped up.

Police say they were chasing the car for a while, but the driver wouldn't stop. Police backed off and let the chopper follow the driver.

Officers say the man finally lost control and crashed near 193rd East Avenue and 11th Street in Catoosa.

The News On 6 is told the driver was ejected from the vehicle and was unconscious, but alive after the crash.

The man was taken to a Tulsa hospital. His condition is unknown.

Police say the car was reported stolen.
