KINGFISHER, Oklahoma -- Two people were killed and another person was injured after an EagleMed medical helicopter crashed in Kingfisher County, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol Spokesperson Chris West.

The injured person was taken to OU Medical Center by helicopter in an unknown condition, but Robbie Copeland with EagleMed said the survivor is doing "fairly well." Witnesses said the person appeared to be alert.

The EagleMed helicopter crashed four miles south of Kingfisher just north of Okarche around 8 p.m. Thursday.

Federal aviation officials and the OSBI are investigating the incident. The cause of the crash is not known.

The identities of all parties are not being released until family has been notified.

Derrick Sigl was working in a field south of Kingfisher when he witnessed the crash and said he saw the helicopter go into a tail spin before clipping the top of some trees. He said he then called his boss, Kingfisher Mayor Jack Stuteville. Stuteville then called 911 for help.

"When I pulled in, of course I was focused on the accident area, but there was one guy that survived, and it kind of looked like he crawled. It looked like he must have been thrown out. It was probably 50 yards from the helicopter. I don't know how he got over there, but the sheriff's office was right behind me, and they saw him wave, and they went over there and the ambulance was right there. And they got him stabilized and medevaced him out," Stuteville said.
