OKLAHOMA CITY -- EagleMed officials said the fatal helicopter crash that killed the pilot, 56-year-old Alan Dale Harrison, and nurse 35-year-old Ryan Duke and injured nurse and paramedic 34-year-old Michael Eccard, has the company wanting to know the exact cause of the crash so they can hopefully prevent something this tragic from ever happening again.

EagleMed's Regional Director Robbie Copeland said losing Harrison and Duke has been like losing a family member, but as for what led to their death, he said the company wants to know that as bad as anyone.

"This is just something we hoped we would never have to face, but safety is a very important thing. It's part of what we do, so we're looking into this very deeply, as well, to determine what we can do better as a company," Copeland said.

Copeland said FAA inspections for their helicopters and planes, which requires crews to adhere to the strictest of guidelines, is something the company takes very seriously.

"As far as the safety aspects of the helicopter, it involves the mechanics, the pilots, the crew members. So it's something we take very seriously. It's scrutinized very seriously," Copeland said.

EagleMed said since 1981, their helicopters have flown thousands and thousands of miles and Thursday's incident marks their first ever helicopter crash. As for the pilot, company officials said Harrison had years of experience including 10 years flying with EagleMed alone.
