TULSA, OK -- A driver thought to be under the influence of alcohol is blamed for a two-car collision that left one person in critical condition at about 10:40 Saturday night.

The driver of a high performance Mustang never hit his brakes before slamming into the back of a car that was stopped at a stop sign on Mohawk Boulevard at about the East 4200 block, according to Corporal Darren Bristow with the Tulsa Police Department.

Both cars were eastbound on Mohawk Boulevard when the collision occurred. The cars entered Winston Street near the Mohawk Golf Course, and the first vehicle went into a ditch.

The Mustang "went airborne, flipped over and landed over a chain link fence on the golf course on its top," Bristow said.

There were three people in the car who had stopped for the stop sign. One was transported in critical condition to a Tulsa hospital. The other two received non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

The driver of the Mustang was "driving probably too fast on the windy road in a high performance vehicle and possibly under the influence of alcohol," Bristow said.

The Mustang's driver also received non-life threatening injuries, he said.
