Empty Gas Tank Leads To Death Of Ardmore Man On I-35

LOVE COUNTY -- An Ardmore man walking along Interstate 35 in Love County was killed Friday at about 8:43 p.m.

Jackie Lee Collins, 55, had run out of gas and walked to an exit to purchase some. He was on his way back to his disabled vehicle at about the 15 mile marker when he was struck and killed by a southbound vehicle.

Collins was wearing dark clothing which contributed to the accident, according to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The roadway was wet with rain.
