TULSA, OK -- The future of one Tulsa charter school is still in question, and that has some parents taking a stand against the state. They met Thursday to send the state schools superintendent a message that they're willing to fight.

Parents say Sandy Garrett won't give Epic Charter School, Peoria and 36th Street North, approval to start September 1.

So, along with the World One Outreach Center, they've filed a lawsuit.

Parents say as taxpayers they have the right to decide how their children learn.

"My son needs the adequate curriculum that will meet his needs. And, by having a variety then you can say, ‘these are the values, these are ideas, there are the curriculums that I want my son to learn,'" said parent Sharla Walker.

Specifically, Walker says Epic offers a Christian curriculum.

Epic is a virtual school chartered by the University of Central Oklahoma. The News On 6 contacted the State Department of Education, but were told it could not comment because of the lawsuit.
