JONES, Oklahoma -- Three months after a deadly rollover accident in Oklahoma City killed more than a dozen horses, a local rescue group needs help giving them another chance at life.

It is actually a third chance – as the surviving horses were scheduled for destruction until Blaze's Tribute Equine Rescue stepped in.

Seventeen horses survived the accident that Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers said was caused by a driving falling asleep behind the wheel. Those horses were taken into custody by animal control, and the driver was cited for reckless driving.

The driver who wrecked was transporting the horses to Mexico where they were set to be slaughtered.

The animals have escaped death twice, but the rescue organization is making a plea for donations to help in their efforts to have the horses adopted out.
