CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- After finding a missing Fletcher woman in Texas Friday, investigators discovered the woman lied about her disappearance. Investigators said her stunt has cost taxpayers thousands of dollars.

Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation Spokesperson Jessica Brown said OSBI agents, along with the help of Texas Rangers and the Corpus Christi police, tracked 39-year-old Tiffiny Bray and a companion to a hotel in Corpus Christi, Texas. Agents found Bray and a companion at the hotel at about 9:30 a.m.

Bray was placed under arrest in Corpus Christi after Comanche County District Attorney Fred Smith filed warrants against her for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and obstructing officers and faxed them to agents in Texas, Brown said.

"We detained her, asked her questions, made sure she wasn't being held against her will and she was not," Brown said.

OSBI said they will seek restitution of the expenses incurred during the investigation including hundreds of man hours and extensive travel.

"We've spent hundreds of hours searching for Tiffiny Bray. We've spent money on meals, on per diem, on hotels. We estimate probably in the tens of thousands of dollars, and we will be asking for it back because it's not fair for the taxpayers to have to foot this bill," Brown said.

Bray was reported missing July 20 by her fiancée when she did not return from a shopping trip to Lawton the day before. The Comanche County Sheriff's Office requested OSBI assistance Thursday, July 22. At that time, OSBI determined Bray was in south Oklahoma City Monday, July 19, in her fiancée's pickup truck. Thursday, July 22, Bray's fiancée received information from her that she was being held against her will in Lawton.

Investigators haven't yet said why Bray ran away or who the other man was in the hotel room.

Bray's mother said she has no idea why her daughter would pull such a stunt.

Bray now awaits extradition back to Comanche County, according to Brown.

The unidentified man who was with her is not being charged with any crime.
