TULSA, OK -- With a high of 96 forecast for Sunday, Green Country residents can expect a break from the triple digit heat. A weak cool front dipping down from the north is expected to keep the temperatures in the low 90s during the first part of this week.

The excessive heat warning is still in effect through 9 p.m. Sunday, however.

"With the ridge of high pressure in the mid-levels of the atmosphere nowhere near its former strength, temperatures for the next several days will be significantly cooler than the blast furnace we have been stuck in for what seems like weeks," said WARN Team meteorologist Nick Bender.

"Along with the cooler conditions, a 30 to 40 percent chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms will remain in the forecast through Tuesday night."

The cooler temperatures are expected to last until the heat builds back up Thursday and Friday, Bender said.

On Saturday morning, the area tied a second record for the highest low temperature of the day. Temperatures only got down to 86 degrees overnight, and the record is 87.

Parts of south Tulsa saw a microburst early Saturday morning with 55 to 70 mph winds that caused damage to businesses and trees along 71st Street near Highway 169.
