4 Suspects in Custody After High-Speed Chase in Moore

Four suspects are in custody after a high-speed chase in Moore. Police said the chase started over a car that was possibly stolen from Oklahoma City.

MOORE, Oklahoma – Four teen suspects are in custody after a high-speed chase in Moore. Police said the chase started because they saw the car speeding through a school zone.

The pursuit started at about 8:45 a.m. and reached speeds of 90 mph. It began near 149th Place and Vicky Drive. The chase ended near S.W. 119th Street and Western Avenue 15 minutes later. Police said the suspects' car crashed into another car and caught fire.

"It's very frustrating because I don't know that this kid who had stolen this car doing this police chase during school hours and flying through crosswalks. I'm not very happy about it ," said Cindy Kennedy, whose car was hit by the suspects.

Her daughter suffered minor injuries.

Police said the car could have been stolen from Oklahoma City.

Police were able to catch and arrest three of the suspects. A police dog was called in and the fourth suspect was taken into custody minutes later. The four were all in custody by 9:30 a.m.

When asked why they ran, one suspect said, "Because I can. I was joyriding, sir."Northbound Western Ave. at S.W. 119th Street was down to one lane and southbound 119th was blocked for a short time.

Sky Ranch Elementary and Brink Junior High School in southwest Oklahoma City were both briefly locked down Friday morning after the four ran from the car into the neighborhood.

The suspects' names have not been released.
