Kimberly Clark Celebrates 20 Years At Its Jenks Mill

JENKS, OKLAHOMA -- This month Kimberly-Clark celebrates 20-years in Jenks.

The 1.8 million square foot facility which opened in 1990, produces Kimberly-Clark's bath tissue as well as paper towels.

The 342-acre mill site also houses a distribution center.

In a news release from Kimberly-Clark, over the past 20 years, the Jenks Mill has played a vital role in the community.

The Jenks mill currently employs about 400 people.

"The Kimberly-Clark Jenks Team is excited to celebrate our 20th anniversary this year," said Susan Bickert, Jenks Mill manager. "The Jenks Facility has a long history of delivering exceptional results to Kimberly-Clark's Consumer Tissue business. This has resulted in growth and ongoing investment in the facility, which, in turn, enables us to support the Jenks and metro Tulsa communities in a variety of ways."

The first product to roll off the assembly line in 1990 was Kleenex Premium Bathroom Tissue.

Following Kimberly-Clark's 1995 merger with Scott, the plant added Scott bath and paper towels to its production lineup.

In 1999, the mill underwent a major upgrade in its tissue machine technology to a proprietary Kimberly-Clark process.

In 2001, a major expansion at the facility doubled production capacity and added an on-site, third-party distribution center.

The release goes on to say it is proud of its employees for being involved in local community activities and helping to make Oklahoma a better place to live, work and play.

Earlier this month, Kimberly-Clark held a 20-year anniversary celebration at the mill for current and former Kimberly-Clark employees and their families.

More than 700 people attended.
