TULSA, OKLAHOMA -- A man convicted of driving into a crowd outside a Brookside bar and killing two people was scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday in a Tulsa County courtroom, but the sentencing has been rescheduled for late next month.

Andrew Mathis, 26, was initially set for sentencing in late July, but it was changed to August 31st.  Last week, a judge again granted a request to delay the sentencing until October 27th, 2010.

Mathis pleaded no contest earlier this year to charges he drove his car into the crowd on Halloween Eve in 2008.

The judge accepted that plea and found Mathis guilty.

Tulsa Police say Andrew Mathis, who was 24 at the time, intentionally drove his car into a crowd of people. Some of those people were helping a man who officers say Mathis had earlier knocked unconscious in a fist fight.

Investigators say the incident began because Mathis' ex-girlfriend was hanging out with a group of men.

Two people were pinned underneath Mathis' car.  Carlos Lopez Junior, 30, Dennis Cox, 38, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Several other people were also injured and treated at the scene.

Police said there were no indicators that Mathis tried to slow down before hitting the crowd. They believe alcohol was a contributing factor in the crime.
