One Oklahoma County Lifts Burn Ban, Another County Issues Burn Ban

TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA -- Thursday evening's cold front which pushed thunderstorms across portions of eastern Oklahoma has caused at one county to lift its burn ban.

The Cherokee County commissioners lifted their burn ban which had gone it affect last week.

Meanwhile, Ottawa County in far northeastern Oklahoma added its county to the list of counties under a burn ban.

A burn ban remains in effect for Sequoyah, Latimer, Haskell, and Le Flore counties.

Under a burn ban, it is unlawful for any person to set a grass or wildfire, building a campfire or burn trash.  Anyone convicted could face a fine of up to $500 and not more than one year in the county jail.
