TULSA, OKLAHOMA -- A Tulsa homeowner thanked his dog for waking him in an early morning structure fire Saturday in the 1300 block of South Quebec. Jeremy Hall said his dog Lexi started barking, alerting him to the smell of smoke at about 5:30 a.m.

"Came outside and thought it was the outdoors - maybe something was burning around here," Hall said. "Went back inside and realized it was my house that was on fire."

Hall said he briefly tried to fight the fire himself then decided to wait until the "professionals" arrived.

Tulsa firefighters were quickly on the scene and put the fire out. The fire was contained to a closet in the home officials said.

Firefighters were working to determine the cause of the fire. They say the homeowner had been having some problems with his alarm system.
