GUYMON, Oklahoma -- State Highway 136 was closed just north of Guymon due to a tanker truck containing anhydrous ammonia overturning.

The area was evacuated due to concerns about a pop off valve on the tanker.

Authorities originally reported the truck may be leaking anhydrous ammonia following the crash, but after further inspection, no gas leaked from the truck.

The highway was closed while crews cleaned up the scene. The Department of Environmental Quality was called as a precaution.

Authorities said the driver was on State Highway 136 when he lost control of the truck causing it to overturn.

The driver of the truck was injured and pinned inside the vehicle for a period of time. He was taken to Guymon hospital in an unknown condition.

The driver's identity has not been released.

Anhydrous ammonia is a pungent, colorless gas that is both caustic and hazardous. Exposure to the gas can cause irritation to the eyes, nose and throat. Exposure to large amounts can be fatal.
