OKC Man Killed in Hit-and-Run Boating Accident

MCINTOSH COUNTY, OKLAHOMA -- A 38-year-old Oklahoma City man was killed in a fatal hit-and-run collision on Lake Eufaula at about 6:22 p.m. Saturday.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers say Greg Scherff was a passenger in a boat that was stopped on the lake about a mile north of Standing Rock in McIntosh County. Another boat hit Scherff's boat in the rear or aft section before leaving the scene.

The boat that left the scene is described as an unknown year white Cobalt.

A total of six people were in the 2002 Sea Ray that was hit from behind. Four remained in the hospital Sunday morning.

Driver Adam S. Blackwell of Yukon, age 36, was taken by medical helicopter to a Tulsa hospital listed in stable condition with head and internal injuries. A female passenger, Rita Chapman, was also taken by Life Flight to a Tulsa hospital with head and trunk internal injuries. She was listed in stable condition. Her age and residence are not known.

Thirty-six-year-old Terri Lewis of Moore was taken by private vehicle to a hospital in stable condition with a head injury, and passenger Julie Taylor was taken by ambulance to Muskogee Regional in stable condition with head and internal injuries.

Lisa Schones, 38, was treated and released with head and neck injuries. A 15-year-old passenger was taken to a Eufaula hospital with an arm injury, according to the trooper's report.
