FOYIL, Oklahoma -- A Rogers County man is trying to change lives one pound at a time. Over the past four months, he has lost more than 100 pounds and he says he did it all on his own.

Columbus Adams is a self-proclaimed "big loser."

"I've lost 111 pounds so far," Adams said.

The 26-year-old struggled with his weight all his life. His eye-opener came in May, at about 320 pounds.

"A couple of toes felt like they were going numb and I thought, man that's the first sign of being diabetic and it runs in my family," said Adams.

Adams turned his garage into a gym and start exercising.

"It's improved the energy and everyday when I wake up in the morning, I'm ready to go," said Adams.

Every day, he does weight lifting, a 3-mile run and eats a completely revamped diet. On the menu: fruits, whole grains, vegetables and protein, limited dairy and no red meat.

"We've always been competitive and seeing him on this whole nutrition streak has inspired me to want to be like him," said Jacob Viddaurri, Adams' brother.

The lifestyle change has inspired his family and friends. His brother is now his workout partner.

"I had to come witness firsthand to see the results. I jumped in and did that circuit and the first day, I couldn't make it through the first set," Viddaurri said.

Adams says his motivation is his wife and two young children.

"The thought of not seeing Dayton's first football game, the thought of not walking Layla down the aisle, you know," Adams said. "I want to be there for every second."

He admits he has struggles every day, but says temptation is part of our daily lives.

"You got to take that first step, your mind has to will your body because your body is not going to want to do it," said Adams. "Just push through, it's all about determination."

And that determination has added years onto his life. Adams wants to share what he has learned with others. He's working to get certified as a personal trainer and hopes to one day own his own gym.
