Edmond Officer Receives Life Saving Award for Saving Best Friend

EDMOND, Oklahoma -- An Oklahoma police officer received one of the highest honors for saving the life of his best friend.

Edmond police presented the Life Saving Award to Officer John Zeigler after he donated his kidney to a friend he's known since middle school, Robert Pittman.

The two had surgery in Tulsa in August, and now they're not only friends, they're linked for life.

Both men encouraged others to become organ donors.

Officer Zeigler recovered quickly and is back on the job at the police department.
