OKLAHOMA CITY  -- A man has been arrested on suspicion of robbing two businesses on the city's northwest side Thursday morning and attempting to rob a pregnant woman in the parking lot of one of the businesses.

According to police, 34-year-old Donald Bilby robbed the Family Dollar Store at N.W. 23rd Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.

Officers say Bilby then walked to the Arby's on N.W. 23rd Street and Blackwelder. In the parking lot of the fast food restaurant, they say Bilby confronted Arby's employee Ronnett Jenkins with a knife and demanded her purse. But police say Jenkins, who is six months pregnant, wrestled the knife away and slashed Bilby multiple times before running inside the Arby's.

"This employee made a wise decision to make refuge inside the business, where she could get some help to call 911, and that obviously encouraged our suspect to depart the scene very quickly," said Oklahoma City Police Sgt. Cory Nooner.

Officers say Jenkins suffered minor injuries during the altercation and was treated at an area hospital.

Bilby was arrested outside the Walgreens on 23rd Street and Classen Boulevard. The 34-year-old was taken to an area hospital to be checked out before being booked into the Oklahoma County Jail. His injuries were non-life threatening.

Police said they recovered the knife from the Arby's parking lot. It is unclear if Bilby had any other weapons during the two robberies.

Bilby has spent time in jail for car theft, false impersonation and drug possession.
