OKLAHOMA CITY – Six people were shot during an altercation that began at one Oklahoma City church and ended in a shooting outside another metro church on the city's northwest side late Wednesday night.

Oklahoma City police said six people were shot during the incident near Britton Road and Western Avenue at about 9 p.m.

All the victims were transported to an Oklahoma City hospital. Their names and conditions are unknown.

Police originally reported one victim died, but the report was changed to six victims shot.

Officers said the incident started when two groups of women got into a verbal altercation at the Word of God Church on N.W. 95th Street. They left the church and began walking down the street.

The altercation then escalated and became physical. Police said that's when a black male in his 20s pulled out a gun and began shooting. The shooting occurred outside the Emmanuel Tabernacle Church on N.W. 96th Street and Western Avenue.

Police are currently investigating the incident. They are searching for the black male shooting suspect.
