MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma -- A Midwest City woman shot and killed a burglary suspect after finding him standing in her living room while she was home alone with her young children.

Midwest City Police Chief Clabes said the 30-year-old mother was at home, 9313 N.E. 14th Street, with her two small children when she heard a loud noise. She thought it was earthquake and walked into her living room to see two men standing in the room. She shot both would-be burglars, killing one of them.

"I'm proud of her, I really am," said neighbor Annetta Sanders-Rider. "I mean, I probably wouldn't have had the nerve to do it, but I'm glad she did."

The victim and her two children were not injured.

The other suspect is in fair condition at an area hospital.

The victim's neighbors said the home had been broken into several times before this incident.

"To have something like this is horrifying, and to have it happen seven times, I would use lethal force myself," neighbor John Rider said.

No names have been released.
