SAND SPRINGS, Oklahoma --  The gnarliest new attraction in Sand Springs passed a major milestone Thursday.

Crews started pouring concrete at the site of the city's new skate park.

It wasn't the usual gray concrete.  It's tinted an earth tone, instead.

The 6,000-square-foot park will also double as a retention pond to help control flood water during heavy rain.

The project is being paid for by private donations and fundraising, including a grant from skateboarding star Tony Hawk's foundation.

It's on schedule to be finished by Christmas.
