CLAREMORE, Oklahoma -- The Rogers County Sheriff's Office is asking the public's help in identifying property which deputies believe is stolen.

In a news release, sheriff's investigator Brandon Hill says that a recent arrest at a Tulsa motel resulted in the discovery of a cache of jewelry which deputies highly suspect is loot from a multitude of burglaries.

"We've found the jewelry, now we need to find who it belongs to," Brandon Hill said.

Sheriff Scott Walton said that in other recent burglary arrests the Sheriff's Office asked for the public's help and was inundated with calls.

"People are well-intentioned and really want to help but we need to narrow the focus in this circumstance to the owners of the property we've found," said Scott Walton.

Deputy Brandon Hill says there's a time issue at play in this instance.

"The property is being held by the local motel manager and, unless it's identified as stolen property, the motel will discard the property," Brandon Hill said. "We really need to get this property identified before it's too late."

Hill says the motel manager cited a company policy to hold property found in the rooms of unpaid tenants for a period of time. At the end of the time period the property is thrown away.

Sheriff Walton is asking burglary victims to log on to www.rogerscountysheriff.com and look at photos of the jewelry that was located. If a piece of property is identified as stolen, the victim is asked to contact the Rogers County Sheriff's Office.

Victims will need a police report that lists the property or some verifiable form of ownership proof.
