KIEFER, Oklahoma -- The Friday Night Lights have a golden glow for one small Oklahoma town. They're celebrating a gridiron victory more than a half-century in the making.

The snap of the ball, the smell of the grass, the roar of the crowd, and it all comes rushing back for Tom Allen.

"We were a mean bunch, " said Tom Allen, who was part of the '51 Kiefer Trojans. "We had a lot of fun... hunted together, we fished together; we had a lot of fun together.

And together they brought home the district championship for the first time. Now, it's a different generation, different field, a totally different team, but the same Kiefer spirit.

And once again Kiefer's football team is the district champion.

"Because it's been so long… awesome for them to come down here," said Kiefer player Sergio Lozoya.

And while the guys are happy to take one last stroll onto the 50 yard line, they say they don't mind sitting the game out.

"We're getting older can't even run ten yards now... we'll let the young boys play," Allen said.

The current Trojans are now trying to do what their forebearers couldn't, bring the state championship trophy home to Kiefer.
