OKLAHOMA CITY -- The construction for the new Devon Energy skyscraper is reported to be right on schedule in downtown Oklahoma City.

This week the 19th floor of the new Devon Tower is being added, and the future skyscraper is finally at a point that the rising structure can be seen from any angle in downtown.

"We're on track. Things are going very well," said Hines Assistant Project Manager David Moore.

Every week that goes by, another story is added on to the $750 million project. The Devon Energy Corporation Headquarters, an iconic, 50-story, 1.8-million-square-foot office tower is expected to be complete in 2012.

"People are excited. I would say that everybody notices it especially now that you're starting to see it peak up over the top of the Colcord and it's starting to get as high as some of the other buildings in town," Moore said.

Hines, the company managing the project, considered this a once-in-a-generation building. He said completing a unique tower like this in the middle of a downtown this size is something few get to see now days.
