McDonald's is lending a helping hand to families with children who have devastating illnesses. Wednesday was the first of 11 McHappy Days.

TULSA, Oklahoma -- McDonald's is lending a helping hand to families with children who have devastating illnesses.

Wednesday was the first of 11 McHappy Days.

Now through November 20th, you can go to participating McDonald's restaurants and buy a paper 'hand' for a dollar. The money raised will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tulsa which provides a home away from home for parents whose children are in the hospital.

"They come in and have support groups for, again, children with devastating illnesses. They can share each other's concerns, and comfort each other during the tough times," said Kevin Hern of McDonald's.

There are 300 Ronald McDonald Houses around in 30 countries around the world.
