TULSA, Oklahoma -- Most news is serious business. But for just a moment, let's look at something from the other side.
Like most news organizations, News On 6 has a couple of editorial meetings daily. There's discussion about all the weighty stuff, then we decide how we'll present those issues to the viewers.
Garrett Weindorf, one of the more colorful producers at News On 6, is a very elaborate doodler.
"I call them noosles," Garrett Weindorf said. "No I don't, I just did."
All his doodles, and there are many hundreds, he does during the afternoon editorial meeting.
"You hear all these horrible stories every day," he said. "These terrible crimes, you gotta do something."
He says he keeps his mind clear doodling. He does his doodling on the daily assignment sheets so the doodle is overlayed on the day's news.
"Frozen lake problems Craig Day was reporting on that day," he showed. "We covered a chimp's 3rd birthday, that's nice."
Some are very intricate, others are simple. Many experts say doodling is just the expressions of a wandering mind.
"That's the best doodling, when you just let it go, just do it," he said.
Weindorf produces The News On 6 at 9 p.m. on the Tulsa CW.
