UNDATED – The city of Tulsa topped the list of Oklahoma communities in a national study released Sunday as the state's most dangerous city in 2009.

The study by CQ Press found Tulsa was ranked at 28.

Oklahoma City had a ranking of 50.

The other four cities in Oklahoma on the list include Lawton #54, Norman #331, Broken Arrow #337 and Edmond #366.

The annual rankings are based on population figures and crime data compiled by the FBI.

Nationwide, Colonie, New York tops the list for the second year in a row with the lowest city crime rate ranking in the United States, while at the opposite end of the list, St. Louis, Missouri has the highest.

In a CQ Press news release, the crime rate rankings of the cities and metropolitan areas are calculated using six crime categories: murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, and motor vehicle theft.
