Murder Suspect Surrenders To Muskogee Police

MUSKOGEE, Oklahoma -- A Muskogee man wanted for a double shooting that left one man dead earlier this week turned himself in to police Thanksgiving Day. Deontee Eugene Newton was arrested at about 9:30 a.m. without incident, according to Muskogee Police Corporal Pedro Zardeneta.

"A family member of the suspect advised task force members that Deontee wanted to turn himself in," Zardeneta said.

The shooting took place Monday, November 22, 2010 at 301 North 26th Street in Muskogee. Police say Newton shot and killed 21-year-old Kionta Guess and wounded 21-year-old Dynell Smith.

The U.S. Marshals Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force of Eastern Oklahoma and Muskogee Police Department made the arrest.
