ASHER, Oklahoma -- Three people were killed and two others were injured in a car crash in Pottawatomie County Tuesday evening.

Two vehicles crashed at the intersection of U.S. Hwy 177 and Hwy 54 about three miles north of Asher at about 6:15 p.m.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a yellow Nissan Xterra was traveling south on Highway 177 when a red Pontiac Grand Am going westbound failed to stop at a stop sign and smashed into the SUV. The Pontiac rolled one time and ejected three of the four passengers. None of the teens in the red car were wearing seatbelts.

The driver of the SUV, Mark Cicero, was wearing a seatbelt. The 50-year-old received minor injuries and was treated and released at an area hospital.

Chad Mullen, 18, the driver of the Pontiac, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

Leah Hanson, 16, was transported to OU Medical Center where she was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the collision. Brothers Andrew McBroom, 19, and Joshua McBroom, 21, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Family members said Hanson and the Broom brothers were related and they are all from Asher.

Troopers said the winter weather was not a factor in the crash, but the exact cause of the crash is under investigation.
