The cold blast we have been advertising for several days now is still on schedule for a Saturday morning arrival. The actual wind shift should be arriving along the I-44 corridor around 6 or 7 AM, but the real deal cold air will be several hours behind the initial wind shift. So, with the cloudy skies and SE winds we will be having tonight, temperatures will not drop off much and we expect to be in the low-mid 40s to start the day. Some warming may even take place up till about mid-morning and then the cold air will take over. We expect temperatures to be in the 30s by afternoon and near freezing along about sunset. Together with northerly winds of 15-25 mph, that will put wind chill values in the teens and low 20s making for a mighty cold Christmas Parade in Tulsa Saturday evening.

Fortunately, the moisture will be moving out as the cold air moves in and we expect clearing skies during the afternoon and evening hours of Saturday. A few sprinkles or light showers may occur tonight and for the more eastern counties during the day Saturday, but anything that falls will be light and will be liquid.

After that, it will just be cold…..in fact, the coldest we have been since back in January. Morning lows in the teens and daytime highs struggling to get above freezing are expected for Sunday and Monday. Look for a gradual moderating trend for the middle of the week and another cool front to arrive later in the week. However, this next system will not be nearly as cold..

As always, stay tuned and check back for updates.
