Green County Residents Love A Parade This Holiday Season

TULSA COUNTY, Oklahoma -- Several Green Country towns celebrated the holiday season with Christmas parades on Saturday. Owasso, Glenpool and Oologah residents are some of the Oklahomans who suited up in their holiday best to march down Main Street full of holiday cheer.

Owasso's theme this year was a "Rock N' Christmas." Saturday morning saw bands, horses, floats and – of course - Shriners in funny cars keeping the beat. News On 6 anchor Craig Day was on hand to help emcee the Owasso parade.

Glenpool's Christmas parade was dedicated to helping area children with a new toy drive. News On 6 Chief Meteorologist Travis Meyer joined in the fun late Saturday morning. The Chamber of Commerce also gave away $1,000 to a lucky Glenpool shopper. Funeral Director Dan Schaudt of Schaudt's Funeral Home offered food and drink to parade watchers on 141st Street as did the South County Community Church.

Oologah's parade is set for 5:30 p.m. Santa will hand out $500 and pose for photos too. Go by the community building in Oologah for a chili dinner served by the Oologah Boy Scout Troop 199. McNellie's Holiday Parade of Lights begins at 6 p.m. in Tulsa.

The annual Bixby Christmas parade was sponsored by the city's Rotary Club Friday evening. Trophies are handed out for the first, second and third place entries. Doc's Country Mart provided free hot drinks to the south Tulsa County parade goers. Skiatook's Christmas Parade was also held Friday, December 10. Skiatook held its first annual tree lighting event the same night.
