UNDATED -- Green Country roads were icy in spots - contributing to several Sunday morning accidents, according to reports by the Tulsa Police Department and Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Drivers were urged caution especially on bridges and overpasses that may have thin patches of ice from moisture in the air condensing on the roadways.

Emergency vehicles were dispatched to U.S. Highway 169 at 91st Street South near Grace Church in Broken Arrow for an accident at about 8:25 a.m.

There were three separate wrecks on U.S. Highway 75/244 southbound over Southwest Boulevard at about 7:30 a.m. One of the accidents happened when a truck slid into a police car that was stopped to render aid to earlier accident victims.

Tulsa police blocked that section of Interstate 244/U.S. Highway 75 southbound temporarily to prevent any further accidents and clear the scene of wreckage.  The Tulsa Police officer whose car was hit has been transported to a local hospital to be checked out. She is believed to have only minor injuries.

The City of Tulsa sent out sand trucks to help address the issues.

Drivers spun out in several areas on highways including bridges and entrance/exit ramps on U.S. Highway 75, U.S. Highway 169, Highway 64 and Interstate 244.

At about 8:25 a.m., a woman was transported to a local hospital after hitting a restraining wall while exiting the IDL onto 7th Street in downtown Tulsa.

Another woman and her husband were on the way to church and had exited U.S. Highway 169 near 56th Street North when the driver lost control of her car on a patch of ice. The vehicle left the roadway and flipped several times before coming to a stop.

Another driver behind that car slowed to avoid the wreck and also wrecked on the ice. That driver was taken to the hospital with chest pains.

Sunday morning at about 6:15 a.m., light ice on the bridge at 16900 West U.S. Highway 64 on the west side of Sand Springs caused a single vehicle rollover accident. A truck landed with the cab on the guard rail.

It is not yet known if there were injuries in that wreck.
