NORMAN, Oklahoma -- A Norman couple who owned a heating and air business have been sentenced to four years each for operating a drug ring out of the business.

Steve and Deborah Compton were sentenced Monday by U.S. District Judge Joe Heaton in Oklahoma City after pleading guilty in May to drug-trafficking.

Prosecutors say the Comptons, their three sons and others sold the prescription painkiller OxyContin. Sons Josh, Jeremy and Zacharry Compton also pleaded guilty to drug trafficking and have been sentenced to four years; three years and eight months; and three years in prison respectively.

A total of 23 people were arrested in the sting.

The Norman Transcript reported Steve and Deborah Compton thanked investigators who arrested them -- with Deborah Compton saying the arrests saved the lives of her husband and sons.
