Oklahoma To See Wet Christmas Eve, Cold Christmas

The seven day forecast. The seven day forecast.

TULSA, Oklahoma – Oklahoma drivers will see rain and could even see some snow as they travel across the state for the long holiday weekend.

"An area of widespread rainfall will be moving from west to east across the state. Locations along and south of I-40 will likely receive the bulk of the rain where total amounts may exceed ½" for some locations," said WARN Team meteorologist Dick Faurot.

"For the rest of us, rainfall totals will be more like ¼" or less, and notice I am talking about rain, not ice or snow."

Extreme northeastern Oklahoma could see some freezing temperatures early Friday morning with a brief period of freezing drizzle.

Again on Friday night, there will be a "brief window of opportunity for a few snow flakes or sleet pellets for extreme NE Ok and NW Arkansas, but no accumulation is anticipated," Faurot said.

"So, for those of you wanting a White Christmas, it certainly does not appear to be in the cards for us."

Still, drivers are urged to allow for some extra time on the roads as there may be some hazardous conditions on elevated surfaces.
