Back To Work

Posted: Updated:

We're looking at some mild air for the next few days including a relative warm up by the end of the week before another major storm system will move across the nation.  Thunderstorms are possible Thursday night into Friday with highs nearing the upper 60s Thursday before the cold air blasts through the region Friday.  The big issues remains for Saturday as both the EURO and GFS surface maps are drying us out but the EURO upper level grids indicate another short wave approaching the area Saturday evening.  If this is the case, snow will be possible Saturday or Saturday evening.  I'll keep a slight chance of precipitation in the forecast for Saturday but this is no doubt subject to change.  It will be another 2 or possibly 3 days before we'll get a good look at this system in the model data.

Before the big system arrives, a fast moving system will brush the area Tuesday night into Wednesday with a few showers possible.  The higher likelihood for rain will be across the southeastern and far eastern sections of the state Wednesday but the Tulsa metro will also be in the running for this event.

The pressure gradient will crank up Wednesday and Thursday with winds gusting to near 30 mph from the south.

Temperatures Thursday will move into the mid or upper 60s with a few showers possible before the cold front arrives Friday morning.  This should result in the warmer portion of the day occurring early Friday through midday with falling temperatures during the afternoon.

I hope your Christmas was super great.  I usually keep a few days of vacation for the end of the year to spend with my family, including our 9 and 12 year old.  They still think Mom and Dad are cool.  I know this won't last too much longer, but I was greatly reminded of how much we love our kids and how much they love us.
