BARTLESVILLE, Oklahoma -- A young boy celebrated a birthday that doctors thought he may never see.

Seven months ago, 3-year-old Beau suffered a traumatic brain injury after he was kicked in the head by a horse.

Beau defied the odds and is well on his way to recovery, and that calls for a celebration.

Three-year-olds birthday parties are a big deal for every parent, but this one is especially significant for the Davis's. Their boy, Beau, is alive and well.

"When we got out of the hospital, he couldn't move the whole left side of his body. He wasn't supposed to live really, so he's a walking miracle," said Beau's father Zach Davis.

"Just a true miracle from God that he's here and we have this opportunity to celebrate, and make gains he's not supposed to make," said Beau's mother Christy Davis.

Earlier this year, the three-year-old was almost killed when he was kicked in the head by a horse. He suffered a severe brain injury, and the left side of his body was paralyzed.

After a long stint in the hospital, he began rehabbing near Dallas. Still, the prognosis wasn't very bright.

"He's not supposed to chew, eat, swallow. He's just supposed to be babbling, and he's supposed to not be able to do anything. But he's doing everything. He's a complete miracle," said Beau's grandmother Cynthia Davis.

But Beau overcame the odds. He regained most of the feeling in his limbs, and began walking and speaking again.

He left Dallas, and was back home in Bartlesville by September. Beau's birthday was Wednesday of last week, but family came in from as far away as Wyoming to celebrate Tuesday.

When they finished their meal at Los Cabos, there was another surprise waiting outside, a hummer limo.

The family says considering what Beau's been through, they won't have a problem spoiling him every year.

"How special is each birthday going to be from here on out?" Said Beau's mother Christy. "We are going to have a big celebration every December 21st."

Beau's recovery is ongoing. But his parents say considering the progress he's already made, they are very optimistic about the future.
