TULSA, Oklahoma -- Three men suspected of pulling off a rash of home invasions are behind bars.

After getting a tip on a possible burglary at a home near 24th and Pittsburg late Thursday night, police set up surveillance.

Investigators say when three men pulled hoods over their heads, and one opened the screen door, officers kept them from going inside.

"Home invasion robbery can turn bad in an instance," said Sergeant Dave Walker, Tulsa Police Department. "In order to keep the people safe in the house, we confronted them at the porch."

All three of the men ran. Officers arrested two in the neighborhood, 22-year-old Delmar Long and 25-year-old Steven Lynem.  Antonio Williams, 22, was arrested later while trying to pick up a car at Admiral and Sheridan.

"The intelligence we had gained from following those folks, we knew where his car was so it wasn't a real leap to watch his car and wait," he said.

The men all face attempted burglary and attempted armed robbery charges. Sergeant Dave Walker says the arrests couldn't have been made without teamwork, persistence and hard work.

"The patrol function taking a great concern about what is happening, the K-9 always out there looking for these guys and the real heroes are the gang unit that find them and follow them," he said.

Investigators say the men may also be linked to a half dozen recent home invasions, including one on January 3, 2011, where a pregnant woman was tied up.

They are also suspected in other home invasions stretching back to last summer.

"We know they aren't the only ones committing this type of crime, but they are the most active," Sergeant Walker said.

For now, investigators are glad those men are in jail and they'll work to build a case to keep them there.

"You can't be kicking in doors of houses and expect us as a department not to take it a little bit personal and do what we've got to do to stop them," he said.

Police recovered a semi automatic pistol and a revolver outside the home.

All three men each have previous convictions. They're each being held on $140,000 bond.

Police expect more arrests in the case. They say one of the suspects, Delmar Long, is also a suspect in the thefts of cars from a Bartlesville car dealership.
