STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- Oklahoma State University's student newspaper will be joining a list of mainstream newspapers the week of January 10, 2011 who will charge readers for online content.

According to articles in several websites, the Daily O'Collegian entered into an agreement in December 2010 with an e-commerce platform to charge online readers.

Online access to the paper will cost $10 a year for readers outside a 25-mile radius of OSU's Stillwater campus.

Raymond Catalino, general manager of the O'Collegian says their content has value.

"It's a beginning step in establishing the fact that what we produce has value outside of our immediate market, and people ought to be willing to pay for that," Mr. Catalino tells Wired Campus.

The newspaper says they are the first student newspaper to charge certain readers for student content.
