TULSA, Oklahoma – Parts of Oklahoma could see wintry weather over the weekend and into early next week.

News On 6 meteorologist Alan Crone said the first system will move across Texas Saturday evening and Sunday morning bringing a chance of rain and some snow showers in southern Oklahoma by Sunday morning.

"This will more than likely stay too far south to have a major impact on the Tulsa metro but it's not impossible to see some light snow showers Sunday because of the proximity of this system," Crone said.

Northeast Oklahoma will see its greatest chance for snow Monday afternoon, when another front moves into the state.

"Snow will be possible Monday across northern and central OK including accumulating snowfall with highs near freezing," Crone said.

Crone said 1 to 3 inches of snow is possible.

Along with the chance of snow, the coldest temperatures of the season so far are predicted for next week. The high on Monday is only expected to reach just above freezing. Temperatures will fall even further for Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs of only 25 and 23, respectively.
