UNDATED -- Colder temperatures and snow are moving into Green Country, according to WARN Team meteorologist Dick Faurot.

On Sunday the likelihood is for light flurries or a dusting of snow, but chances look better for Monday for an accumulation of 1 to 3 inches as the system moves through.

Winter weather advisories have been issued for several Oklahoma counties including Craig, Latimer, Nowata, Osage, Ottawa, Pawnee, Payne, Pittsburg and Washington. Sebastian County, Arkansas is also under the advisories.

In the Tulsa metro area there are more than 40 trucks ready with 13,000 tons of sand and salt, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation said in a release issued Sunday morning. As the storm approaches and temperatures drop, trucks will begin spreading sand and salt and then clearing any snow.

The first storm system is moving in from the southeast, Faurot said. The Red River Valley in the extreme southeastern Oklahoma should expect to see rain changing to sleet and then snow as temperatures drop Sunday.

"Some of the rest of us could see some light flurries, maybe a dusting at most, but not too much to worry about on Sunday," Faurot said.

"That will change on Monday."

Another system will approach from the northwest, bringing snow down from Kansas. The Tulsa area has an 80 percent chance of snow as the work week begins.
