TULSA, Oklahoma -- A young Green Country girl is hoping to inspire other kids to get into the kitchen.
Just call Remmi Smith the Culinary Kid. The ten-year-old started cooking when she was four and is now getting her own cooking show.
"I just started washing vegetables and making salads, because salads are really easy," she said.
She kept working on her skills and was making full meals by the time she was eight.
"I love smelling all of the ingredients you get and finding new ingredients and then you just make it into one dish that usually turns out delicious," she said.
Her favorite thing to make, her signature dish, is angel hair pasta with tomato pancetta sauce.
"I get inspiration from my family cookbook or newspaper or magazine or anything like that," Remmi said.
Now, she's getting her own show. "The Culinary Kid" features Remmi working with well-known chefs and learning techniques through OSU's Culinary Arts Program. She'll then make her own dish.
"What I'm going to do is I usually put foods that kids will like in these dishes and I take out foods that kids don't like," she said.
If your kids don't like tomatoes or spinach, don't worry, Remmi has some recipes that will appeal to your children. Also, she's going to incorporate techniques she learns every week. The goal is to get the whole family excited about cooking.
"They want to have fun in life so you just want to be really creative," she said. "If kids, you put them in the kitchen and ask them to help you out, they might try because I think if kids cooks it, they'll probably eat it."
Remmi hopes to inspire more kids to try their hand at cooking, but just plans to have fun in the meantime.
"I love cooking, that's the best part for me," she said. "And I love eating."
Remmi's show, the "Culinary Kid" premieres on Cox Cable Channel 3, or 703 HD, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night. After that, it will air every Wednesday night at 7pm.
