TULSA, Oklahoma -- A Tulsa couple woke Saturday morning to the sound of a man beating on their front door and found a shooting victim, according to Tulsa police.
When the couple opened their front door in the 5600 block of North Garrison at about 4 a.m., they found a man who was bleeding from a gunshot wound to the chest. Sergeant Steve Stoltz of the Tulsa Police Department said the man told them he was walking through the Tulsa neighborhood at about 3 a.m. when he was shot.
The bullet exited the man's body, and he was able to walk to the ambulance, Stoltz said. The victim couldn't give police much information about what happened.
"At this point it seems like he was just an innocent bystander out for a walk at 3 o'clock in the morning in the neighborhood and somebody shot him," Stoltz said.
"It's unfortunate to say, but your chances of getting shot greatly increase if you're walking at 3 o'clock in the morning."
Police are investigating the shooting. If you have any information that can help, call Crime Stoppers at 596-COPS.
