EDMOND, Oklahoma -- A Edmond mother was given devastating news when her doctors diagnosis her with stage four cancer in October. Now, her 9-year-old son is trying to help any way he can.

Zackary Gossett may not understand everything his mom is going through, but one thing he knows for sure is the medicine she is taking makes her sick.

"I want them to pray for my mom and fight for life," said Zackary.

His mom Rhonda is battling stage four cancer, a fight he knows she is struggling to win.

"She usually always done the laundry and fixes us food and now she still doesn't want us to do it and she's been trying to do it but she's been hurting," said the 9-year-old.

And the family is hurting from the long list of expensive medicines and surgeries. So Zackary decided to help her by selling bracelets and t-shirts at school.

"We are trying to donate money to my mom...So we can pay her cancer bills," he said.

"She's just a real loved person and a loving mother and an awesome wife," said Zackary's dad Darren Gossett.

Darren Gossett said focusing on helping his son sell the t-shirts and bracelets has distracted him from the reality of seeing his wife fighting cancer.

"I feel like the more people we can get to pray, the more God will hear us. That's one of his promises that prayers work," said Darren Gossett.

Rhonda Gossett was originally diagnosed with stage two breast cancer but a second look revealed it had spread to her bones. Immediately she started on chemotherapy and Zackary wanted to be there for his mom.

"So I would give her this book when she was done to make her laugh," said the 9-year-old.

It was a book he made with the help of classmates full of jokes.

"Why did the man throw his watch out the window? He wanted time to fly," Zackary joked.

Zachary's dad said humor and support from family and friends is helping the family cope.

"We've got a lot of people praying for us and so we are going to beat it. We've got to go through some tough times but we'll do whatever it takes," said Darren Gossett.

If you would like to help out Zachary and his mom Rhonda, you can donate money or purchase a t-shirt and bracelet.

If you would like to donate money, you can do so at any Bank of Oklahoma under the Rhonda Gossett Cancer Treatment Fund. Or direct online via paypal with either credit or debit card on their Facebook page. If you would like to order the t-shirts or bracelets, email Poolsharks@sbcglobal.net.
