As stated in my earlier discussions, snowfall forecast accumulations may be increasing across the northern third of the state for late tonight through Thursday morning. The last two runs of both the NAM and GFS indicate snowfall totals approaching 4 inches for the Tulsa metro with some higher amounts possible across extreme northern OK. Amounts from 1 to 4 inches will be common place across the area with the lesser amounts across southern sections of the state, near and slightly south of the I-40 corridor. The timing of the system may also speed up with the onset beginning as early as 8pm near or north of Tulsa with snow spreading across the area from 10pm to midnight. Snow will continue through Thursday morning before quickly moving eastward by midday. Gusty north winds will develop with temperatures in the 20s tomorrow afternoon.
We're also getting new data regarding the Sunday and Monday period which indicates more winter weather potential including accumulating snowfall. We'll be watching the incoming data for this system and no doubt making changes to the extended forecast.
Dick will post updates later today and tonight.
