WEATHERFORD, Oklahoma -- A 5-year-old Oklahoma boy's superhero costume stole the show and won the top prize during halftime at a Southwestern Oklahoma State University basketball game.

Braden Robertson didn't dress up as Superman or Batman.

He came dressed as his father.

SWOSU held a contest during halftime, offering an X-box as the prize for the best costume.  Braden came dressed as a soldier; specifically, as his father.

"We started to get dressed, and he was like, 'Mommy, can I wear my soldier suit?'" said Braden's mom Larci Robertson. "I was like, why do you want to? He said, 'Daddy is a superhero. He's my superhero.'"

Braden's father is First Lt. Chris Robertson. He's currently serving in Afghanistan and hasn't seen his family since August. Braden said he wanted everyone to know how special is dad is.

"I thought my dad was cool so I dressed up like him," Braden said.

Larci said the crowd at the basketball game cheered and gave the family a standing ovation when they heard Braden's story. She said the heartwarming reaction brought tears to her eyes.

"When they gave him the mic to let him explain who he's dressed as, he said 'I'm a soldier because my daddy is in the army.' They went crazy, super loud, screaming. I couldn't believe it," Larci said.

Braden's dad is in the 101st Airborne. He comes home in April, and the family will move to Fort Campbell in Kentucky.
