Tulsa Mayor Boasts About Construction Progress

TULSA, Oklahoma -- We're dealing with a lot of construction on Tulsa streets, and it's been a real headache for many drivers.

But, city leaders say the work is really paying off.

Mayor Dewey Bartlett and Councilor Bill Christiansen said the widening project at 91st and Sheridan is just one example.

It is one of more than 30 projects the city finished in 2010. There are more than 40 projects still going on around town.

Mayor Bartlett says Stimulus money is making a lot of those projects possible.

"We've spent it very wisely, we've spent it well and we've spent it where it's necessary, but we have a lot more needs so we'll be going back to Washington to continue our conversations with the Department of Transportation," Bartlett said.

The Mayor hopes to convince federal leaders to make Tulsa a priority when handing out future road construction dollars.
